Labradorite and Copper
The first bezel set piece I made, 22x30 mm labradorite, couldn't get the shimmery effect to show in the image, but it looks really good. already sold it a few weeks back

Copper and Carnelian
Made a ring today, copper and a 6 mm carnelian. second bezzle set piece I've made, also the first one using different grades of solder. definitely helps when everything doesn't start to melt and move at the same temp! lol

also kinda mad my old potato camera wouldn't focus, but what can ya do

celtic inspired pendant
made another pendant, same technique as the leaf pendant, started with the raised wire details and then moved onto the sheet backing. this time I made sure to anneal the frame after soldering and flattened it under a bench block on my anvil so it had more surface area for the solder to bod the two pieces together. I plan to do it this way from now on. after embossing I used a plastic mallet to dome the whole piece. for the patina I used the slate black patina from sculpt nouveau, it doesn't make as 'black' of a patina as liver of sulfur on copper and instead makes more of a deep brown 'rust'.

copper leaf pendent
first time doing a soldered jewelry piece. this was an experiment to test how well sil-phos copper brazing rod would work for this type of thing. I think it did pretty well, but it would be considered a very hard solder. had some difficulty soldering pieces together in steps since the solder all melts at the same temperature. I'll definitely do more of these since I like the wire frame with the slightly embossed sheet giving it a little volume. for my first time soldering anything other than electronics or pipes I think I did pretty good XD

currently planning to give this to a friend that gave me the sil-phos rod. it's great stuff since you don't need to use flux with it

hand forged scarf pin
a close up of the pin, made out of scrap 1/4" mild steel. it's kinda long, I may need to shorten it. also my point and shoot camera is just seeming to get worse and worse at focusing

So anyone with a windows OS has probably seen the little "get windows 10" icon in their taskbar by now. I've taken a look at windows 10, and I'd prefer to stick with windows 8.1, as crappy as it may be since it was a forced update. When I tried to remove the GWX files from my computer it gave an error message and told me I couldn't. I'm not an overly paranoid person, but when you try to pester me into downloading something I don't want and try to make it so I can't manage the files on my own computer, I get pissed. I wouldn't have a problem with this if they didn't make it so intrusive and act like a piece of malware. To get rid of the GWX files you just have to end the GWX process through the task manager and then take ownership of the GWX files packet in its properties. (for windows 8/8.1) Simply go to the security options, select your administrator name and then click "advanced" from below the 'permissions for -admin name-' box. Click on "change" next to owner and put your admin name into the box, click "apply" and an error message will pop up (microsoft really doesn't want you getting rid of their shit). Set your admin profile to have complete control over the fall and all subfiles and then close the properties window and reopen it, it should show you as the owner with full control. Simply delete the file packet and it will remove it. if it gives an error message you will have to end the GWX task from the task manager again before it can successfully be deleted. It will likely get reinstalled with the next windows update but should easily be removed with the same process.  I hope this helps anyone who wants to get rid of the windows 10 updater on their current system.

you're welcome, and they look really nice. I've been messing around with a few hairpin designs recently and just made a few the other day. I'm currently debating whether to order some copper, brass and bronze rod to make some more because people seem to have this delusion that iron and steel are dirty and rust just as soon as you look at it XD

Softer metals are always good choise for jewelry projects and usually more fast and easier to forge than steel. For example brass alloy called "tompac" in exellent stuff.

I ended up ordering some pure copper, unleaded naval brass and silicon bronze. I've done a little forging with copper and naval brass before and it's pretty easy to work either at a red heat or just annealing and cold forging. A few experiments with silicon bronze taught me it's best to work at a red heat since it seems much easier to crack when cold forging
